Woman looks like ‘character from The Simpsons’ after DIY turmeric face mask fail

A woman was left in hysterics after a DIY face mask left her face bright yellow.

TikTok user @Laurenjrennie came across a recipe online for a turmeric mask that claimed it would help to calm the breakouts she had.

With all of the ingredients already in her kitchen, Lauren set to work – but the beauty fan soon regretted her decision after it left her face “glowing” bright yellow.

Lauren revealed the results in a video on TikTok – and it quickly racked up more than 1.1 million views.

Lauren explained: “For like the last three weeks, I’ve had really bad skin.

“I’ve been breaking out in spots all over my face, but mainly across my lip line.

“And I really don’t want to squeeze them because it’s so, so sore.”

So, she did a little digging into how she could calm the flare-up herself.

Not long after, she came across a DIY turmeric face mask which she happened to have all of the ingredients for.

She added: “It’s got benefits for like acne, wrinkles and skin irritation. So I was like yeah let’s go.”

But things didn’t end up going to plan as she said: “But the thing is I’ve just applied it to my face and my entire hand has turned yellow.

“When I take this off I’m going to resemble the moon.”

But it didn’t matter how much she scrubbed at her face, the yellow tinge refused to budge.

“I’m literally going to the supermarket with my dad tonight,” she added. “I’m really hoping that make-up’s going to cover this.”

Eventually she gave up, and instead decided to put on some makeup and a yellow top to “distract” from her face as she headed out to do the food shop.

Since being posted, the video has received almost 190,000 likes and 1,900 comments from hysterical viewers.

One said: “I knew as soon as you said turmeric.”

“Sis really woke up and decided to turn into The Simpsons,” said another.

A third joked: “You really do be glowing.”

While a fourth said: “Girl you said ‘turmeric’ and I yelled NO.”

And: “Teeth looking super white though,” pointed out one viewer.
