A TikTok user has been branded a “legend” after sharing a video of him helping a girl being harassed in a supermarket.
The man, known as Brandon Robert, posted a clip of his act of kindness and encouraged others to “protect our ladies” in the comments.
In the video, Brandon can be seen in a shop, wearing a face covering.
A voice over says: “There is this weird man making this girl uncomfortable in the store.
“I’m going to pretend I know her.”
He goes over to the girl and begins talking to her as if they know each other and she goes along with it.
Brandon says: “Oh my god, hi. How’re you?”
She responds: “Oh my god, hi. I’m good how’re you?”
He then asks who the man is that’s with her before telling her that his aunt is with him and does she want to come and see her.
The girl asks: “Aunt Claire?”
The pair then walk off together and the girl thanks him for helping her.
Brandon says he saw the man touching her and enquires as to what he was saying to her.
“He was seeing if I wanted to go back to his place, so creepy,” she tells him.
He adds: “I was watching him from across the freaking room, he was touching you. Are you ok?
The girl confirms that she is ok and the TikTok ends.
Brandon’s video has since gone viral, garnering over 35 million views and more than 11 million likes.
Thousands commented to praise him for his actions, though there were some who thought he had done the “bare minimum”.
One person said: “Need more people like u.”
“Thank you for helping her out. It’s pretty sad how often girls have to deal with situations like this,” wrote another.
A third replied: “Thank you man. We need more of this. More awareness.”
Someone else asked if “Aunt Claire” could become the “universal code” now.
Others labelled Brandon a “legend” and a “king” and thought his reaction was “perfect” for the situation.
“So many guys assume they have to get confrontational to intervene/help. They don’t. What you did was perfect.”
A different posted: “THIS IS THE BARE MINIMUM BUT I’M SO EMOTIONAL. I hope everyone is as decent and as gentlemanly as you.”
However not everyone was so sure about the video, with one pointing out: “Everyone praising him and I am too but like why make a TikTok? Gotta show your good deed to the whole world?”
